[And his dark secret love]

Oh, my slight obsession with Paris and Nicole is so, so sad. And even it's even sadder that the duo parting ways chills the cockles of my heart. Sigh. I've discussed this with C. at work. We both tend to think the "break up" of the two had something to do with Nicole cleaning up her act, losing weight, and getting a man. Paris, it has always seemed, was "the pretty one" with Nicole being the dumpy sidekick. Not the case anymore...

Enough with my pop-culture commentary.

Oh the train-wreck comedy.

And the good news: My roses are beginning to open, and both bushes will be bearing red blooms. My prayers have been answered. [I had a hunch Irene wasn't a "pink" gal. I wonder how she's doing--I check the obits every once-in-a-while to see if she's passed yet.] Also, my peonies are bright red. This weekend I'm planning on working on the flower beds. My lawn still looks like ass. I hope the seeds and potting soil do the trick in the front yard. Lawns must be a man thing. I just don't get it.

I'm counting down to vacation. Sean and I are heading to Ft. Myers next Friday. We're staying in a condo on the beach until the 26th, then driving down to Key West for two days. I'm warning my coworkers: I might not come back. I'm considering getting one of those fake spray tans, just so I don't feel so Casper-like as I did last year. We'll see.

Yesterday, I had a leisurely lunch with L. at Rock Bottom. I got to hear about her new house, her job-related woes, and her computer-going-kaboom (I lent her some not-so-legal software to fix the problem, but it appears as if the drives were beyond repair, and a new Dell has been ordered). Today, after work, I headed to AAA to get an additional TripTik--Ft. Myers to Key West--to add to the collection of maps and coupon books and attraction guides.

Also today, I learned that one of the flunkies who used to own one of my phone numbers (I have three), is still giving her old number--my new number--to creditors. I received a call for "Charlestina" (there's also a Tracy and Felicia who have mortgage companies, credit card collectors, prisoners calling from various correctional institutions, and other undesirables calling for them) from a bank--the collection agent informed me that the number on file was one the bank received in March. I've had my three phone numbers since February. Just great. The calls were really bad back in February. Now it's rare that I get a "wrong number" but it's still aggravating as all get-out.

I think I ought to hop in the shower.

[In short:]

From most recent -

My kitchen's ceiling has been painted. The about half of the wallspace has been papered (note: wallpaper is a pain in the ass).

Watched How to Get the Man's Foot Outta Your Ass aka Badasssss!.

Assembled more cabinets.

I planted grass seed in the front. I hope the birds don't eat it.

My irises are blooming. The rosebushes have buds. Any bets on what color the blooms will be?

Condo has been acquired for the Ft. Myers vacation. We'll be staying at the Kona Beach Club, about a 1/2 mile from the "business district" where we stayed last year (The Howard Johnson at 1100 Estero Blvd., apparently, was destroyed via Charlie in August, which led us to check out condo rental. Luckily, this has proven to be much cheaper than staying at a hotel).

My lilac tree's flowers have come and gone. (The heads of my tulips were blown off two weeks ago)

I had to run my furnace last weekend, the last day of April and the first day of May. There is something terribly wrong about that.

Watched Hitchhiker's Guide.

Finished painting the woodwork in the kitchen.

I think that covers my life since the reunion weekend. Pardon my incongruous comments.

It seems as if "that time of the year" had come. The time when everyone and their mother will be oohing and ahhing about Star Wars, particularly on the Internet. That is why, boys and girls, I have decided to take my vacations starting May 20, the day after Revenge of the Sith makes its debut in a theatre near me. Hopefully, during the 10 days that I will be sans Internet, folks can get the Star Wars Madness out of their fragile systems--as we all know, Star Wars makes me puke a bit.

---

Next week, I get my yearly evaluation. This will be followed by a raise. O my!

---

Product plug: I purchased a Vidal Sassoon Ionizer a few weeks ago, after my hairdryer of several years decided to die. I haven't had to iron my hair once since. My hair is very shiny, frizz-free, and straight--but contains body at the roots. The dryer was cheap, too.
